In modern warehouse logistics, high-density space efficiency often competes with load selectivity and handling throughput. Gravity Pallet Flow Racking—also known as Live Pallet Racking—resolves this conflict by utilizing gravitational force to transport palletized unit loads automatically along inclined roller conveyor beds. By tilting the storage bed at an engineered incline (typically between 3.0% and 4.0%, or 1.7° to 2.3°), unit pallets introduced at the rear loading face move under their own mass toward the retrieval aisle.
Unlike static drive-in racking that forces material handling vehicles into dense storage corridors, gravity flow racking establishes physical segregation between replenishment and retrieval workflows. Lift trucks never penetrate the racking structure: loading occurs strictly at the rear charge boundary, while picking operates from the forward discharge point. This architecture guarantees strict First-In, First-Out (FIFO) material flow, eliminating product obsolescence for cold-chain perishables, active pharmaceutical formulations, dairy, and FMCG manufacturing goods with defined shelf-life tolerances.
The primary structural vulnerability in uncontrolled gravity lanes is linear momentum accumulation. In a 20-pallet-deep lane, an unrestrained 1,200 kg pallet would reach terminal impact speeds that exceed the structural integrity of both the pallet bottom and front safety stops. To prevent kinetic shock damage, an engineered gravity flow racking system embeds internal centrifugal speed controllers beneath the roller matrix at calibrated intervals—typically every one or two pallet lengths.
These specialized brake drums operate entirely mechanically. As the pallet rolls over them, internal centrifugal flyweights expand against a stationary friction surface, automatically applying proportional resistance that caps pallet rolling speed at a safe velocity of 0.25 to 0.30 meters per second, irrespective of pallet weight variations.
Furthermore, our heavy-duty systems incorporate an engineered Mechanical Pallet Separator positioned directly behind the front discharge pallet. When a forklift retrieves the lead pallet, the separator prevents line pressure from the trailing line from pushing forward, protecting the operator and mast during the extraction cycle. Only when the extraction is completed does the mechanical linkage unlock, allowing the subsequent unit loads to index safely forward.

Global Industrial Storage Installations Commissioned
A data-informed outlook on how global carbon neutrality directives, automated logistics ecosystems, and harsh climate resiliency dictate the future of structural storage engineering.
With escalating industrial utility rates and volatile electricity supplies across emerging manufacturing centers, gravity flow systems are experiencing massive procurement demand. Because they rely entirely on gravity and mechanical kinetics without requiring motorized drives or wiring, facilities eliminate energy costs while keeping operations alive during utility outages.
Autonomous mobile robotics (AMRs) and automatic guided forklifts are rapidly shifting into mainstream warehouse specifications. Future-proof gravity pallet racking lines now feature optical docking targets, ultra-precision lane end-stops, and micro-switch load sensors that feed lane occupancy data directly into warehouse management software (WMS).
Cross-border buyers in coastal and tropical territories are demanding superior surface finishes that exceed conventional single-dip paint. Procurement teams are specifying pickling, phosphating multi-stage pretreatments, and 80-120μm electrostatic epoxy powder coatings or continuous hot-dip galvanizing for long-term corrosion resistance in humid sea-freight hubs.
Established in 2001, Guangzhou Heda Shelves Co., Ltd. operates a modernized 30,000 square meter specialized manufacturing base. Unlike regional trading agents who outsource structural framing, every column, upright frame, step beam, diagonal brace, and pallet flow roller track is formed and inspected under our own roof.
Our in-house design and structural calculation bureau delivers complimentary engineering CAD layouts, 3D stress-simulations, and loading capacity calculations before structural manufacturing commences. We guarantee container-optimized packing that reduces overseas shipping volume by up to 25%, minimizing landed freight costs for global logistics planners.
